NTPC Identifies Indonesian Coal Mines

Public power utility NTPC screening for more coal mines abroad and in Indonesia about three blocks identified.

"We are working on several acquisitions in Indonesia and two, three mines, identified" NTPC chairman and managing director RS Sharma told reporters on the sidelines of an energy conference.

NTPC already has coal mines in Indonesia and $ 3 billion to acquire International (Rs.14, 000 crore) to take. This South Africa, Nigeria and Mozambique eyeing the property, with the exception of Indonesia.

"We thought that finally the importation of many years to come will be a reality and work hard to identify other mines," Sharma said.

NTPC's total requirement of coal of 150 million tonnes this fiscal year, which the company will import 12.5 million tons.
